L’auberge des Chasseurs, Nestled at the foot of the Jura, facing Mont-Blanc and 30 minutes from Geneva airport by car. The Auberge des Chasseurs is a traditional Gessienne farm built in 1860, restored as an inn in 1950.
This old Jura farm dating from 1860 with a stable on the ground floor and two residential floors was purchased as a life annuity by the Reygrobellet family. At the time, they transformed part of the stables into a bar. This bar was often frequented by hunters. Daughter Suzanne Reygrobellet and her husband Gaston Lamy decided to convert the entire ground floor into a restaurant. To do this, the grandfather had to create openings because the stables were blind.
Once the work was completed, Mrs. Decré was responsible for the kitchen and Mr. Lamy for the dining room. At the time, Suzanne Decré had obtained a macaroon in the Michelin guide and Gaston Lamy the title of best sommelier in France, representing Burgundy. These distinctions attracted the upscale clientele of the region and in particular those of Geneva. Thanks to the success, the owners then created rooms for their customers upstairs.
The warm interior was decorated by a Swedish artist.
The dining room is decorated with black and white photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Josef Koudelka. You will also be able to admire sculptures and paintings by many artists who loved staying at the inn.
Since then, we have been keen to preserve the authenticity and charm of the place in all simplicity, while offering our guests the comfort they are looking for.
